More Screendance I Like
Flight of the soul - Hyonok Kim
A beautiful performance by a mature dancer and choreographer using slo-mo, high-angle, ECU , and rotation. A synthesis of dance and cinema technology, a set of techniques that can be re-used.
Ode On A Korean Urn - Hyonok Kim
Hyonok Kim: A Personal Approach to Dance Films
So beautiful: a deep cultural context and physical setting, powerful traditional objects, spectacular cinematography, directed and edited as well as any major motion picture.
PASSAGES - Hyonok Kim
More exuberance from Hyonok Kim: bold dance on fairly common architecture, subtle superimpositions, fearless water dancing, trademark silks and cherry blossoms in the wind. Beautiful cinematography, no apologies to Hollywood. Another theater for dance...
Pine Tree - Hyonok Kim
The woods as theater, lots of 3/4 shots - the storytellers frame, exciting, unsteady handheld. Within the reach of students and pro-ams, not demanding months of work.
PAINTED - Duncan McDowall
The classic dusty abandoned building piece... a strong dancer and choreography. Lots of work required but the set covers a lot and no issues with random traffic - always a good foundation.
Brief Candle - Duncan McDowall
The classic on the farm, in the barn piece. I do like the special light array, just my thing and I have a bunch of them. Do like his work, consistent quality.
Gypsy ~ TDC Screendance 2022
So you run a dance school for kids and you want to showcase them and their work? This is a great way to do it: the outdoor setting, uptempo pop music, tasteful gimbal stalking, the sheer quantity of happy exuberant dancers, a Broadway show out in the country!
Dance short video. - Atta
A black box, smoke, narrow special lights, handheld ECU and 3/4 shots, moody music = drama. If your choreo and dancers are good actors, this is one way to present them.
MARION BARBEAU et des interprètes de la danse cinématographique | Screendance
What can I say? I like "Emily In Paris", I like this. 😊. It is just a nice slice of Dance, nicely contextualized, entertaining...
PRO & IMPRO - Modern dance by Nadika Mohn - Olga Kuraeva - Gaia Tinarelli - OtraDanza - NDT 1 - A.O.
If you want to showcase a dancer, enough with the "David Parsons caught in mid-air against a horizonless backdrop" already. Yes this is a lot more work. A dancers life: practice, travel, performance. Nice airplane motif. This is quality, the product of the quality of all the elements.
MINE. Screendance. Improvisation. LoFi -Dancing in forgotten places
Want to share your improv? Get out of the studio! Find a nice bit of abandoned architecture, shot low, and have pretty rolling clouds as a backdrop. All you need is your phone and your bike.
